Just one other question with the 2" lift is castor correction needed ?
Some say no, but mine did have some vibration. I fitted offset ARB castor bushes and it fixed the prob. If I was to go back and do it again though, I'd either slot the ball holes Bruce Davis style, or fit Tough Dog bushes as the instructions don't require a German nuclear physics degree.
Ive had my suspension done twice,, :(
First time was woefull,, and it ended up being really twitchy on the steering,,,, constantly working to keep the car straight on the road,, makes for very tireing driving, especially on long drives up the freeways,,
This time, got Pedders to do it, it sits an extra inch higher at the rear, (will come down when loaded with gear etc) and it rides well and steers well too,,, :D
Chops
well I have brit part springs (2") and pro comp shocks....and although I have been told they are way too stiff I think they flex well....and feel good when the car is loaded.
they give a bit of a stiffer ride on road but there is not that much body roll.
well they work for me..... I think when I brought this kit from the UK I think about 2 years ago the springs and shocks cost me a smidge over 500bux:)
i have king springs and tjm shocks they give me a 2in lift doest wander its stiff but ok drives fine wouldnt even know its there
g'day,
i've got 2" springs consisting of ironman in the rear and EFS at the front with EFS shocks as well. no problem in the driving, a little stiff but its good all round for me.
i just poped in a 2 inch lift kit, old man emu i asked for the heavest springs possibul to fit, i feel its fermer around town and just glides off road, my wife its quite fussy about what the comfort would be like with the new springs, how ever there is hardly any roll and wobble that seems to come with all stock disco suspention. the kit has 2 inch lift springs that look the same height as the old ones, just heeps stiffer and larger diamiter wire, and actualy look to be a 3 inch lift. i also replaced the shockers wich i found the old ones to be flogged out and the steering stabilizer wich firms up the steering feel and smoths out the wheel on the highway. the lift is a bit more touchy on the highway and requires a lighter movment at speeds. and btw you can smash the speed bumps and just cut accross the roundabouts at 50 k
cost aprox 1800 including stabilizer and camber adaptor bushes for under axle, sory not camber, cant think of the right word. in my oppinion well worth the banks money,......draw back is i dont own them yet.
i have ome on mine and like it but a bit more travel would be nice.;)
If you put a lift on and your wheel alignment is slightly out, this will make the steering more twitchy. So if this is the case, do a wheel alignment first before spending money on castor correction.
Usually 2" shouldnt cause a problem, and going higher than 2" requires loads more work (castor correction, more stress on Uni's, cranked trailing arms etc etc) - the list goes on. Hence why I did the 2x2 (2" spring, 2" body)
