I reckon your in for a big bill matesounds like your not far of a complete engine rebuild...and 2 months how many hours labour in that I wonder.
Still once you get it back out again it will all be worth while I reckon
Well finaly after nearly 2 months being off the road i am finaly getting my beloved 300tdi disco tomoz. Being our only car and having 2 little boys i've been stressing and pulling my hair out ever since she went in. I have not got the invoice yet but so far what was done is, new head, gasket, valves, block, pistons, rings and a turbo but i'm guessing theres alot more. Now i have to get there by PT and is roughly a 2 and a half hour trip which is going to be great.
Other thing i am freakin about is how long will she last me until something else major goes???? Not that i will be doing so....but when should i be ready to take her out again for a bit of a drive off road??? after getting something like that done is it a reco or new engine and should i just cruz her till she has run herself in if its required?? as soon as i get the papers i'll post up exactly how much was done to her.
cheers simon

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
If you cruise (yes I can spell) around taking it too easy the bore will glaze up and your up for a pull down to the block to rehone it.
Just drive it normally in traffic but dont idle toooooo long. Listen to Glen and get a specific plan (not just drive it) of how he wants you to run the engine in.
No working the engine to hard eg towing a landcruiser or Pootrol.
I hope your going to be happy although nervous for a while and if anything goes wrong modify it, that is most likely how most mods are done with approval from Dept of War & Finance
.
Do you know where to get off, I think either Boronia or Ferntree Gully as then its only a 15 minute walk to RLand.
Good luck.
James

WTF haven't you got a pointless tyre thread to make somewhere?
Joker knows I'm not trying to stress him out I have just come out from the big bills my self. I was making the point that he is going to get a big bill...thats bloody obvious but if you had bothered to quote my second part as well..when I said it will all be worth it.
If he was that upset why did he thank me?
jesus mate you really are good at making friends on here aren't yeah!! on the fish list for you I reckon

I dont think he is having a go at you.In one of the other threads Simon(Joker)had on here, cucinadio said something similar and basically got drilled for it.Its just a bit of sarcasm at its best.Hence why i had my smileys as well.
And i think Simon has it back now
No need to stress people. We are all friends on here.![]()
no worries Sprover
But in all fairness the jokes/sarcasm may work a little better when the person he quotes knows about it!!
