Leaking petrol tank, anybody got one?
Hi, I've had a leaking petrol tank on my '95 Disco for a while and while emailing a Landrover dealer in Glasgow or some spares, I asked him to check the exact age of it from the VIN number. When I received the details sheet I found an "Open Field Service Action" saying that they knew there was a fuel tank integrity problem on some petrol tanks and it should be changed free of charge, of course I asked if it was still valid on a 14 year old car and he checked, it is. So I contacted the Landrover dealer here in Cairo and it goes in next week for a new tank
If you've got a leaking tank, check with a Landrover dealer before spending the money on a new one, you may get lucky like I did.

Yep, A156 Service Action has been active here for a while now.
Never come across a tank leaking though.

I had a leaking tank in a V8i, cracked around the breather. Land Rover Australia didn't want to know, even though it matched the problem as described and the vehicle VIN was in the affected range. It ended up being a good excuse for a long range tank, which I have since swapped into my Tdi (after I wrote the V8i off).

Yep mine leaks around the base of the breather hose outlet tube.
Took the tank out twice trying to fix it. After that Lucy told me the reason why but I haven't had it out since. I just don't fill it to the top anymore. I'm on LPG anyway.
A free new tank would be nice though.

I had my 8 year old petrol tank replaced for free under the service action recall. I bought my car in Saudi Arabia and now live in the UAE but still they honoured the replacement.
Lucy...I would have taken the matter up with Land Rover in the UK to get a new tank...you were entitled to one but it had to be fitted by your local dealer.
