    Radio security code problem

    Hi Guys,
I have a 97 300tdi with the factory Eurovox 7479R stereo. After replacing the battery it needs the security code entered. However, the code on the eurovox card (we have all the books etc) is a 6 digit code and the owners manual indicates it should be a 4 digit code - as do all the threads I have searched on the subject.
To add insult to injury, I can't get the unit to accept any code input using the method shown in the owners manual or in any of the threads I have seen. Any suggesdtions would be greatfully received as we are heading off for a week long trip this Sunday and my humming repertoire aint that good.
    Cheers, Charles.

    Update

My wife just went out and tried inputting the code - worked first time.....just lost all credibility in my house after complaining for several hours about the bloody radio code!
    Cheers, Charles

Never had a problem with those in my landrovers and even got the code for my Range Rover from a dealer using the VIN, but did have a problem in my wife's commodore. We had the code that had worked previously but following a battery change it wouldn't work. .... She lived without a radio for about a year and we tried every few weeks, then one day my daughter tried and it worked. It was a eurovox.

    LOL

Sounds like something I would do. I have a 97 300 tdi and my stereo code is 7 digits also.

    No Way!

Go back out and disconnect the battery once more - don't let the wife anywhere near the car again.
Enter the code yourself and if it doesnt work there is something wrong with the radio.
This then means you need a new radio.
There is something REALLY wrong with it if the missus can get it working first time.
Go to the shops and get a real nice new one, and have them fit it as well.
