Excellent! Make sure you have a good look at the plug that you disturbed, it is more than likely that it may have been getting hot due to high resistance if it was dirty or corroded, and may fail completely later. The pin sizes in these later D1's are smaller than the earlier ones, and can overheat and melt due to poor connections.

Anyway, good to hear its all go:D

Why did they make the damn pin sizes smaller in these later D1's?

Gees - I hope it was not a cost cutting measure....?

Anyway, is it possible to replace a harness from an earlier model with larger pins?

Yes but not really worthwhile as you'd have to do the fuel pump unit connections etc etc too. It isn't a common problem, but can be the result of poor , dirty connections. I would just take a look and clean it, if it looks like it has been hot then just cut out the plug and solder some male/ female connectors on and do it that way. Make sure you insulate well to avoid moisture ingress etc.

...bad news.... :mad:

same symptoms as per this time yesterday - will not start again.

I tried to turn her over first thing this morning - without touching anything - no start.

I listen for whirl sound at fuel pump - nothing.

I then sprayed some WD40 in the pins of the harness connector underneath near bottom of fuel tank - from underneath - still no work.

Should the terminals be fully dry before reconnecting the pins in this harness?

When you say will not start does the engine turn over at all? if not it could be yor starter

Try the old belt of the fuel tank then, it may be that the pump IS faulty?

As DB said, it IS cranking over isn't it?:o

yeah - it cranks over but no fuel enters the injectors...

I have now pulled the fuel pump out and tweaked a few connections/pins.

Now, I cannot re-install the large external red threaded ring that locks the pump into place.

What is/are the tricks involved in getting this ring to catch the thread and lock it in?

I do not have or intend to have the "LAND ROVER SPECIAL TOOL" fo rthis job either as I know it can be achieve with human hands...
