    V8 out Tdi in?

    Hello all,
I have been offered a 93 Tdi D1 with a jammed gearbox for a good price. Should i give up my 96 V8 or should i keep fix up the Tdi and swap all the goods bits over? I know that the oile will be slower and wont sound as good.

    What do you all think?

    Cheers Jim

if it's a 93 most definitely would be a 200tdi , it's not a straight bolt onto V8 box , if the box has siezed find a reco'ed box and bung it in and keep it for tourer , and have the V8 for a daily driver or offload the V8 and use the coins for accessories on the tdi and make it a daily /tourer.

First record the V8 exhaust sound onto a CD and play that while your 'touring' in the Tdi its only that sound that keeps me in my V8

haha , and make a few copies in case one of the CD's gets scratched.

One of the suggestion was to keep the V8 as the daily and tdi as a tourer that way you have best of both worlds.

I love my V8 as it was my first Landrover with many more to come so it going to be hard to part with.

I will make a CD of the sound. Anyone want a copy?

The 300tdi is also a great engine , it's no power house by any means but with a little bit of tweeking , plunger lift ... they go... you can upgrade the intercooler changed the factory hoses with Silicone ones etc.The parts for 200tdi are getting harder to source as it is an older engine but still pretty good. I would hold off till you find a good deal on a 300tdi disco or a defender ( depends which you prefer ) and good deals come by often. the 200tdi might just become a money pit , and that's not what you want.
