I would expect the D1 ARB winch bar to have the same mounts as the D2. With the fairlead centered as they do, the winch bar will fit a XD9000 and the winch motor sits about 1/2mm from the chassis mount. The XP9500 is the same winch, except it has a factory fitted 6hp motor instead of the 4.6hp and as the 6hp motor is bigger, even if you replace the heat sinking end cap on it, it wont fit onto the bar. I looked to flip that winch and run the 6hp motor into the cutout which I think is for the 10000lb winch but it cant be made to run backward because of the brake mechanism, even after searching through the parts bins for the 10000lb winches. This said, you may possibly get a 10000lb winch to fit if your PS mount has the cutout.
    Cheers

well that is what i dident want to hear that the xp9.5 dosent fit that is a drag, i wonder why warn dosent make winchs that are semetrical or centerd around the fairlead ? we cant all have 700 mm wide chassis. lol i cant go high mount becuase i have allredy shelled out for the bar and its also an srs type too. all things considerd i may have removed the srs and gone high mount , one guy had a custom arb high mount bar for 600 on ebay. i guess the only thing to do is go with the 8000 pound if the 10 dosent fit. i sopose i shoud get a cradle orderd from arb, they will probably want a few weeks to get one made up. any one ever bought one sepretly and know how much ill have to pay ? its a pitty i cant fit the 6 hp motor that would have been a good winch.

The ARB doesn't require a cradle, the bars are built strong to start with and as a result they mount the winch directly. I hear where you're coming from re the symetry on the winch. The prob is that the if the motor is smaller then it has less power, and Warn dont seem to thing the gearbox needs to be bigger. Re the highmount, I have seen lowmount bars "adjusted" to fit high mounts, but I'm not saying that its the way to go. Also, if the 10,000lb doesn't fit, the 9000lb will still fit. The 9000lb will probably be faster anyway and will have enough grunt to pull the Disco from a bind.

Airbag bars have to use the cradle, there is no way without major cutting that a winch will bolt into the bar- plus you will most likely stretch and break the crush cans. Look at my pics and see that with the fairlead recess there is no way to directly mount a winch.

just wondering if any one elts can see the pix on the posting ? maby my cookes are off and its blocking the photo ? can evrey one elts see them ? if the 9000 and the 10000 both use 4.5 hp motors i sopose its a much of a muchnes if its faster you can us a block to gear it down and still have a decent pull speed. went to the bank today, and they dident laghf at me, thats always a good sign. said they would call me in a day or 2 to finalize it. i have no idea how i talked the misses into it.

    D2 mount.

Airbag compatible and the winch is mounted directly to the bar.

disco series 1 arb delux winch bar only has 2 holes spaced 10 inchs apart for the fairleed bolts to fit through. i have bought a warn xdc9500 wich is the highest quality that warn makes that will fit the d1 bull bar. i sopke with a diffrent person he said a 8000 or 9000 will fit , the xdc9500 is the same mesurement as the 9000 and by eyeballing the fairleed holes and looking how close the end of the motor is there is about 2 mm clearance from the chassis mount. now i need to decide if im going to mount the winch with an arb cradle or a back yard 3/8 inch plate. has any one ever made there own cradle, if they are cheep enoughf i may just buy one , but as arb can be it could be big bucks.

just to update you, we found 3 types that will fit , the 8000 , 9000 and the xdc9.5 i chose the xdc9.5 aprox 2231 from arb it was listed for 2376 i was offerd the display at a lower cost. good value, it came with the remote , fairleed wire and hook, relays all the gear. the 9000 was aprox 1900 and the 8000 was less than 1500 i think,. and wireless remotes being aprox 280 $ hope this is helpfull to any one.

    cheers. jeff.
