Few Questions about my Turbo & Loss of Power

    G'day all,

    i have a 300tdi D1.....

    1st.

well most of you would have seen my other threads on how my engine was getting a semi rebuild. Now i went for a bit of a play after nearly a month of getting my car back from the spanners and everything was running fine until the next day after i came back from a play. Now i did not thrash the car or rev over 3 thou when out playing, so the next day i relized that i had lost some power from my engine. Well not so much power but quickness when taking off, my accelartion pedal has gone alot harder than it was and taking off seems like it takes forever as it did before. Had a look under the bonnet and everything seems the same, opened up the air box and relized that there was a little water at the bottom but the filter was not dirty or damp BUT on the top half of the box was some muddy water but nothing down the pipe. was thinking of resealing the snorkel as it might have a bit of a leak.

    2nd

Before i took my rig in for for the semi engine rebuild my turbo could be heared whistling away even before i had the snorkel put on. now they changed the turbo due to having a few fins bent and they put a second hand one in. Now when i drive i can not hear anything so i dont know if the turbo is going or not. are there anyways of checking it without unbolting the lot off?????

    cheers simon

    TDi 300?

Turbo will cut in just before 2000RPM and you'll get a big increase in the amount of accelleration compared to below 2000RPM. (i.e.it'll be 'flat' and then once the turbo comes in it will pick up much more rapidly). Not hearing it doesn't mean it's not working (I can't hear mine.....).

G'day spudboy, yes it is a 300tdi and it does exactly as you say, but why would my acceleration pedal be harder than before?????

    New cable spring fitted?

Cable not routed properly, perhaps with a kink in it, or running over something it's not supposed to?

Cable may be crushed somewhere along it's length?

throttle cable adjustment maybe out so you can have much more travel on the pedal with very little reaction from the car
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Check to see that no mud has gone up the cable from the motor end.
That mud dries to a fine dirt and might be binding the inner cable.

Also check it hasn't fraied like the kick down cable did.

Lube with CRC/WD40 and try it.

    Cheers.
