    Engine miss in my V8

Has anybody got a clue as to why my V8 develops an occasional miss? I t can be running along perfectly then it just begins to drop cylinders. Generally only one or two but enough to be annoying. Within 30 sec to minute it all comes back. Generally when under full load. It has agas installation but it doesn't seem to matter which fuel it is using at the time. Plugs, leads, cap and coils ahve al been changed with out improvement.

It'll more than likely be sticking valves, a common Disco V8 issue I'm afraid. Made worse when running LPG.

The cylinders returning after backing off on the throttle is a big giveaway as far as I am concerned.

You had any luck with Flashlube kits on LRs Justin? I had one on both my LPG cars and they both ran well with it

I have fitted and advised fitting of them to all LPG vehicles, if it isn't bad enough with ULP they definately need lube with LPG.

They could probably benefit ULP only vehicles too...

i have wonderd this for along time, i have owned 2 discos, i have just rebuilt a brand new engine, and it still has the chunky idle on lpg, i have nerrowed it down to timing, if you advance the timing untill it pings and then back it off, you should be set right. timing changes with compression and octane so the factory setting is irelivent aspcely seing as how the fuel has changed so much scince 1997 ect, i am running a scorcher distributer from preformance ignition and have a compression of 10.5 i just set my timing to 13 deg before tdc be sure you are on the right side of the scale, as my mechanic had a look at it and mastook it for the wrong side of the scale, eg it was set 19 deg off !!!! now at 13 before it has heeps of power and dosent ping on petrol, so on gas it has heeps more power than it had on 7 deg and dosent ping. or miss. that funny noise you are getting is all the fuel milage you could have had at the piston !!!
