    Soft brake pedal

Replaced master cylinder with new one. Bled brakes as per manual. front wheel bearings OK. But the system still has air in it. Can pump to hard pedal but goes soft. Any clues.

most of the brake joints will pressure bleed and flush you system for $30-40. No air and all new fluid which you should change every couple of years anyway. The local "Brakes Plus" did my 2A for $39.00.

John, on my 93 Disco the front calipers have 3 bleed nipples on each caliper, on the inside, one at the bottom and one at the top and another at the top on the outside, which you can't see with the wheel on.
If this is the case with yours and you haven't bled that top outside nipple you will have air in the system, if you are unsure and don't have experience with bleeding brakes I would advise that you take it to a professional brake repairer, Regards Frank.

Had the same problem a few weeks ago & it was oil in the booster.
The vaccume pump was stuffed & pushes oil into the rubber diaphram.
As a result very spungy brakes and certainly not safe for heavy application.
Easy way to check is to take top hose of the booster & see if full of oil in the hose or intake pipe. (usually a good way to tell the pump & booster are no good.
Went for a second hand booster & pump.
Bleed the system & all good now.
Common problem when vehicle has a few k's on it.
    Cheers Dave
