    DISC 97 TDI 300 SE7

    HI
I've been running a standard drive line on a 97 TDI 300 for about 10 years,
Tyres are BFG 235 x 70 x 16 all terrains with rancho shocks. I tow a Jayco swam pop top. The key as you say is be sensible and take a good loock at the obstacle before you attack it!

Your right ABS brakes and also enertia setbelts are a pain off road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Evening, Are 265/70/R16s considered to be big tyres?
if they are then instead of droping the pressure down to 18-22 psi could we get away with 26psi and the lockers.

i wouldn't ever be hard out and crazy as i really want my Disco to last.
Oh its a '95 V8 Manual, non abs. so does that mean i have the 24 spline drive shaft - C.V.s and is not too weak.

When i get a set of lockers should I get both or will a rear be more than than enough and having both will cause more wind up and stress. Excoulding the price.

I would be tempted just to get the rear done, thats where they are most effective and see how you go, if you still think you really need it get the front done later.
A lot of people here run 265's but the limiting factor for most (me) is you have to cut the bodywork, I couldn't do that to my lovely machine.

A rear auto locker just worked fine for me up the Cape.
I believe you can go to 245/70/16s without cutting the bodywork on a D1, but above that its out with the grinder, which I won't be doing.
