Do you have a suspension and/or body lift?
You'll need one for that size, along with a rear wheel arch trim.
hi all, need new tyres for my 98 disco...i have 16 inch stocky alloys and i was wondering if there is a chance of getting some 265/75/16 on??..too wide or too tall?? bit of a noob question, but i want some genuine feedback from someone with a disco instead of the tyre guy saying what i can and cannot have.i am looking for a tyre suited well to sand and gravel,as i dont do any rock hopping or the like.i could probably spend $250 each and not feel too bad either.all feedback welcomed.
cheers

no lift kit as yet, just picked her up the other day so i still have a few things to do,one of which is a full 50mm suspension kit...i have seen the body trim done, but i dont think im gonna go there.maybe a smaller width then, say 245/70/16???
Rastus,
Check out this handy list.

I have seen a stock D1 with stock 235/70/16 Michelins rub on the rear 1/4 on full articulation so you might have the same problem with 245s too.
You may not have a problem though with 245s if you're only sticking to sand & gravel.

yeah..245/70/16 looks like the ones fer me...cheers to all,and that list is bloody good thanks mike!!
I put Bridgestone LT245/70r16 8 ply Duelers on my 97 Disco. Standard alloys. I am very, very happy with them. I had Michelins before that. They (Duelers)are quiet and are lasting really well. We recently drove right up to Cooktown up the coast and back through inland. All road surfaces and creek crossings. No problems except the local Bridgestone tyre dealer didn't do up the wheel nuts on all four wheels resulting in near disaster. (What's that banging and vibration?)

not too worried about max articulation, just need a good wide footprint for all the beach driving i will be doing, but i think by the sounds of it im gonna need a few more mods up under the ol'girl to keep a bit of clearance when the terrain gets a bit more challenging
i have found a couple of handy links on here that should be helpfull, and i have a local guy who is a rover/land rover specialist to help with the parts...len's landrovers i think it is here in s.a.,pooraka i think is the suburb.
If you can delay the new tyres for a while then I'd be inclined to do your 50mm lift kit first and then see what space you have available to fit new rubber.
Not all lift kits are the same.
