Wanted photos of 300 TDI engine bay

Well, to be more specific I'm after photos of the passenger side of the engine bay and of how and where the air intake runs through the wing cavity.

Also if there are any tips as how to get the plastic wheel arch clips off without damaging them I'd love to know.

I've decided to have a go at making a snorkel, but I've no room to bring the pipe in through the usual part of the wing and want to try to bring it in nearer the headlight, similar to the 300TDI (or so I have been told).

Safari snorkle has the duct coming in between the washer bottle and filter housing then a molded pipe that goes around the shock tower into the RH side of the filter housing, the original intake pipe is blocked off.

    BEST BET

Best way to do it is to buy one it makes it easier to fit and if you ever put a second battery in you have no problems . I put a airtec on my 300tdi took about 45 min easy to fit and about $370

    Hi Jono,
In your photo the air inlet tube at the front of the air box is missing. Do you know what shape the inlet tube is as where attaches to the body side panel?

I think it attached under the wheel chock, any chance of a picture of the side panel under the chock?

It depends on the model of safari snorkel to how it is mounted to the airbox. I have seen 3 different styles in the safari alone. There is the one that Loanrangie has mentioned that enters on the engine side of the airbox. The safari on Shamos D1 came into the back of the airbox near the windscreen washer resovoir like the first photo. While mine is different again coming into the panel side of the airbox and also moving the whole airbox towards the engine (second photo). The hole through the guard is inline with the circular inprint in the guard. While the new holes for the snorkels are all in different places as far as I know they all block off the original hole in the front allowing a second battery to fit infront of the airbox.

Also to get the clips holding the plastic guard liner out I just use 2 small flat bladed screw drivers and lever the centre of the clip out. With the centre out the other pops out really easily.
