    1995 D1 SRS light

    Gday all, i went with my brother as he test drove a 1995 tdi D1 and one thing i noticed is a red SRS light (iam guessing it was for the safety airbags) was always glowing on the dash is this normal ? the owner said it was to prove that were working.

    no its not to prove that they are always working...the light comes on when you first start the engine but should extinguish....

    I have been told though that this can stay illuminated if the car has had a battery disconnected or dead for some time... "I don't know how true that is"
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    Thanks DB..actually they guy mentinoned he had recently fitted a new battery because that car wa sitting for 5 months and the battery went dead

    If you reckon the car warrants further investigation, - get the seller to visit a LR dealer and get the fault ( Maybe, but not always, caused by the flat battery) cleared. Then, the SRS light should act like the brake check light - come on at start and then extinguish. The SRS can be expensive to fix if it's required.

    had the`same issue`came`from disconnecting the battery and turning on the ign, was resolved by JC using his rovercom to cancel the fault code.

    If you mock with the airbag module, or sometimes with the vehicle's electrics, the warning light may stay on and needs to be reset by someone with a computer, Rovacom or alike. It doesn't take much to upset the system that makes the light stay on, altough the airbag will work as usual in case of an accident. The easiest way to avoid this happening is disconnecting the battery prior to, and waiting about half an hour to discharge the system before commencing any work.
    I got annoyed by all the red glow, so I simply pulled the bulb. Forgot to mention that I even fitted a non-airbag steering wheel.
