    Weird Acceleration prob's

    Yello everyone,

After i picked up my D1 300tdi from the spanners after rebuilding the motor she was flying off the lights and had great pickup..the day after i got home she lost all that but still travels ok.

Thought it was just me tonight it was back to how she was when i first got her and you could tell she had guts of the lights and while driving..before leaving i think i heared a sort of buzzing noise coming from the fule lift pump, could that be a problem with the loss of pick/power????

Could the hand brake be a possible problem as well..cable was broken from the hand break handle and i fix it myself with some wire and cable ties??? works fine..

    cheers guys

i guess it could be that
could also be your hand brake dragging like you suggested
also check your throttle cable..these can unwind them selves, means you generally have a bit more travel on the loud pedal before it feels like its going.

i'm guessing all your hoses are in ship shape after the engine rebuild? and all your filters were changed....

dont rule out a bad tank of fuel either...
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Yeahhh hoses are all good same with all the filters, i'm really leaning towards the fuel lift as the buzzing sounds coming out of it roughly started the same time with the acceleration loss. With the fuel i've been using BP diesel as i heared there product is alot better quality than others, might try shell for awhile..

have you checked your throttle cable adjuster?...

believe it or not when I first had mine adjust it was like I had the pump adjusted it was really quick. couldn't believe the diference.

Your probably on the right tracks though

While probably not your power problem, do you mind if I ask which cable you repaired using wire & cable ties?

It's the actual hand break cable..it was busted where the cable attaches to the lever and just used the ties and wire to attach it back on the lever cause I could not afford a new one.

    Hi Joker,

A dumb question maybe, but if you have only had it back for a day then why not take it back to the 'spanners' who had just done all the work on it and ask what is happening?

If it went really good for a day then slowed up heaps then that is what I'd be doing.

Given how the hand brake works unlike on other conventional vehicles, from my limited knowledge I can't imagine it dragging without shuddering or similar.

    cheers,
    Terry

On the Defender it's when you start wondering why it's getting so hot in here.

And then noticing the glowing orange bling bling light coming from underneath.

When i got it back from the spanners it was all fine until i got back from a recent trip out in the bush, and thats what i was thinking about the hand brake as well, you would feel something.

    cheers simon
