    Hi all, sounds a daft question but...

    Whats the best way to check your vacuum advance unit is working correctly?

    Take off dizzy cap.

    Take off vacuum hose from manifold.

    Suck on hose.

    You should see the base plate in the distributor move. You should also be able to put your tongue over the end of the hose and feel it "holding" vacuum.
