    Talking Happy with my sliders

I'd like to say that I made them myself, but I didn't.

I'd like to say that I painted them myself, but I didn't.

I really should be able to say that I fitted them myself but I didn't. I did stand round and pass spanners to Boxer who did all the work so I feel justified in taking some of the credit.

    The naked sill

    The work of art

    Some bolts

    More bolts

    Beautiful finnish

Nice curve to follow the lines of the bodywork

    Good protection

    Nice side step as well

Thank you for the work you put into the sliders Boxer, all I need now is to take the Disco outside and play

They are probably a bit less than 10mm, but not by much.

I was after a good step so I load the roof rack, you can also jack off them so there is not much room for movement.

Looking good mate. Similar to the ones i made for my D2. I see you went just for the single mounting plate. I will soon change mine to a U section as it is just that much stronger.
With regards to clearance below the doors, you'll be fine with 5mm, I have hammered mine off road and don't seam to move much at all. The only problem I have found with the single mounting plate, is that they do move a fair bit when you use the high lift jack on them. The U section does help a lot in that regard.

    Good Job again

    Very nice
    They look awesome!!

Did you use crush tubes or not worry?
How many people actually do use crush tubes to mount to the sill?
Just interested, i will have to make some for mine soon, and have found out that crush tubes would be a mongral to fit

    Hi Tim
I'm still deciding whether to use crush tubes for my next set or not. It would be a bit of a stuff around to fit, but I suppose they will reduce the elongation effect the bolts have on the holes. The sill is made from very thin material, so it would make sense to use them. From a bit of research, most retailers like Rovertyme don't use crush tubes, so if they are confident enough for theyre product not to harm the sill, then I guess it would be ok to not fit them.

    Thanks Hendrik
I helped a mate build some for his d2, we didn't bother with crush tubes looked like way to much of a pain to position and fit
So he just used plenty of bolts and also made a couple of little cool mounts to the chassis out rigger and body mount bolt, made them very strong, not shore if you can jack off them, we havn't tried.
I want mine to be pretty strong and make shore i can jack off them, thats why i'm having trouble deciding weather to use crush tubes or not.
Whoops, sorry for the hijack Black Betty

    No worries.

With the bolts just remember not to tighten them as far as they will go or you will compress you sill.

I'd be careful fixing the slider to the sill and the frame, you could end up with some vibration issues.

    Glad you like em

Didn't really see the need for a U section as Black Betty isn't entering Tuff Truck in it, there are plates welded underneath though so that any upward force (rocks, jacking) is on the sill, not the bolts/holes. There's tons of room between the door and the sliders and as Black Betty mentioned, you only really need crush tubes for this kind of thing in my opinion if you have a habit of tightening things up too much. They run Nylock nuts, so they should be fine.
