    Spring spacers

Anyone had experience of these? Good or bad.
Do they fit on the top of the spring or bottom?

I think they fit on the top but they seem very expensive....

I believe spacers from a patrol I think it was fit hopefully Discowhite will come in and enlighten you as he gave me some info in spaces a while ago but I can't find it...

I too will be putting some in soon at the front to level the car up a tad....my arb bar has sagged them slightly

they'll work but IMHO the money your spending on them would be better off put towards a better set of springs.

try suspension stuff on line (just google those 2 words and select pages from australia)

Dullbird IMHO if your using spacers to reset your ride height because of additional weight (on one axle only) you're better off getting either slightly stiffer or taller springs.

The reason I reccomend this is beacuse while the spacers will work but you can wind up spring binding before you hit the bumpstops.

my springs are rated at 50kg at the front 100kg at the back, you not think that's enough? if I go any stiffer I will probably lose any articulation I have. when I say improve ride height I'm not talking inches probably about 25mm if I was going to fit spacers it would be an inch max.

the springs should take the bar easy as the bar was weighed at 45kg.......I personally think though that's a fair weight to hang off the front of the car so even if the springs can take it it wouldn't surprise me that it has sagged as the bar is not sat directly over the springs.....

ID suggest getting the slightly longer spring then if a stiffer rate will cause you offroad hassles but then if you were thinking "maybe I'll add a wincjh" then Id be looking at a tougher spring up the front. if you match the actual load to the spring rate you wont loose any articulation.

With your current springs dropped down a little now your partway into your "compressive" articulation the only way you'll get full motion out of each wheel is from full compression to full droop, the same applies if you just put a spacer in. you have the same amount of articulation its all just located downwards an inch or so

if you go for a longer spring you get all your articulation as per normal plus you gain some droop (assuming your shocks will stretch that far) if you go for stiffer springs you retain the normal amount of movement but your natural position is where it should be so you dont loose that initial inch of compression.

the problem with a stiffer spring limiting articulation is usually only struck when you have light weights on heavy springs..

I will probably get some different springs eventually but not yet... more so because I have no desire to fit a winch I have winches on my other two cars.

for me fitting the spacer is the cheaper alternative to satisfy me and the looks of the car....the car performs very well off road and there is not much I would want to change about it other than bring that front up a tad just because it annoys me.

    its certainly the cheaper option.

have you looked at making them up yourself?

no but it has just be pointed out to me that the spring isolators from the D2 may do the job as they are about 12mm in thickness
