I put one on my tdi it only took me about 2 hours to fit works well
Hi all,
I have been looking at an "Airflow Snorkle Kit" for my 1996 Landrover D1 with square air box. They are being sold on ebay and look quite good for the money but would like to know if anyone has had any experience fitting them or what there quality is like. There website is www.snorkels.com.au and being sold for $355. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks, David.

Hi all,
I purchased one when they were around $250.........I fitted myself, the instructions were clear and the template was acurate. It hasen't fallen off yet so I guess I got it right
It's surprising how much better the disco runs with cool clean air!
This weekend I'm fitting a new a/c and serp belt, hopefully I wont have to many dramas with it.
Regards Jim.
In case anyones interested I had my 4.6Efi Discovery on a rolling road Dyno last week and decided to test the BHP at the wheels both with and without the snorkel connected.
The difference was a gain of 4hp at the wheels when the snorkel was disconnected.
I run a standard paper air filter and a Mantec snorkel.
Off topic again (sorry Mods) but the viscous fan stole 15hp when it kicked in.
My mate Dave had a Airflow fitted to his 4.6 Discovery and swears by it.
Regards,
S.
Yeah i have an airflow on my d1, they look a bit rough in terms of fit and finish, and there is some hastle involved in moving the airbox to accomodate the adapter between the snorkel and airbox but they do come with good install instructions now.
If i had my chance again i would go with the Safari, or possibly the TJM one
Perhaps a second hand Safari snorkel from TRS?? Safari is a better fit.

Hi guys
I too opted to purchase the airflow snorkel off ebay for my D1 300tdi, although I'm happy with the unit now its fitted I was less than happy at the time, the instructions I received were unfortunately inadequate.
The template for marking the holes didn't match the snorkel, there was no indication as to how or where to join the snorkel to the filter box and the joint of the inner and outer was not a snug fit.
I did ring the company and to be fair the chap did listen to my concerns but I don't know whether the systems have been modified.
to improve the inner and outer fitting I used a large O ring to allow a water/dust proof push fit that would withstand any movement.
Be careful when you line up the template on the wing, within the wing is a reinforcing bar, which if you cut the hole too low, you would then also have to cut part of this bar away too.
Apart from my initial frustration the unit has performed fantasticly well, we regularly take the care for a splash
cheers
