    TDI Fuel lines

    Sorry about the monster photos

Well driving home today there was a strong smell of diesel just thought it was the truck I was following

Once home smell was still there so I thought I'd take a look, good thing I did as there was diesel pouring out on the fuel lines and down the side of a very hot engine block

I'm assuming these are return lines as the engine ran fine and it would explained the rather ****ty fuel economey I got last tank

This is where the fuel was leaking from that braided line has split open and come off the injector but having a feel around none of the joins on any of them are trustworthy

I assume this last one is the return line back to the tank dunno how long thats been off but I was able to reconnect this with too much issue

Well now that thats all explained how would I go able fixing these
can I just go to an auto shop and get some new ones if so what should I ask for and where and do i need a special tool to get them on

    Cheers
    Rob

There is not much pressure on the fuel return line in the Tdi-engine. Almost any fuel resistant piece of hose of adequate size will do. Your nearest automotive parts supplier will stock what you need, maybe even a filling station.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.

1/8th ID fuel hose will do the trick as will cheap aquarium air line in the short term.

its a push on fit but you can get spring clamps that are suitable for the job.

Had exactly the same problem this week.
It is only return lines , cost $90.00 at my mechanic to fix .
Just some line and clamps , all good now.
