Rimmer Bros, OEM Flares for a 98 Model

    Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if this has been posted before.

I have bought a set of the OEM Style flares (STC8498 : Discovery 1 Wheel Arch Flare Kit - 5 Door - Original at www.rimmerbros.co.uk) to suit the D1's from the UK, these are supposed to be non-guard cut ones.

I have along with these flares received some fairly vague fitting instructions and a part number for the Adhesive (STC8187 / STC50551) required to install them to the vehicle.

Unfortunately When lining the flares up, Although they appear to sit very nicely on the vehicle, there is a hollow area between the flare and the body, meaning that any adhesive would not actually stick the flare to anything?

I am looking for advice from anyone who has these flares on their Discos or even someone who has installed these flares themself. If you have some photos would also be very helpful .

    Thanks,

    Hi Totthead,
Sorry for this late reply but I've only just joined and seen this post. Have you thought of using a foaming polyurethane adhesive such as Fixtech - Fix n Foam (but won't stick to PP or PE according to the data sheet), says its suitable for marine, automotive etc uses. Hope this is of some use.
    Best regards
    Robs
