Think my disco has gastro !

ok so apart from the cooling woes, I've been hearing a brief fluid gurgling sound coming from behind the dash/ steering column area.

It only lasts a couple of seconds and seems to happen when I turn the wheel.

Have checked fluid levels all ok . Any ideas ????

An air lock in the heater core is a possibility especially if you've had the cooling system worked on.

Mine makes this noise, its especially noticeable when accelerating. I have read about this on another forum and it seems that the general consensus is that its normal.

Hi, good to hear I'm not the only one with this noise. It usually happens when accelerating. I read in my hays workshop manual that it is air in the cooling system usually caused by filling it up to fast causing an air lock. It says to squeese the hoses to try and get the air out but that did not work for me. The other thing to try is let some water out of the radiator and then fill back up slowly. I have not got around to doing this yet but will when I have some spare time. Hope this helps.

    Cheers, David.

If air in the cooling system is the issue, unbolt your coolant expansion tank and raise it above the top plug in you cooling system, have your engine runing when the coolant starts to flow out of the top plug whole screww it in and that should fix the problem.

If there is air in the cooling system them does this not also mean that there will be hot spots in the engine as well with the possibility of these hot spots initiating problems such as head problems etc down the track?

Try your vehicles front up on ramps or a good uphill incline facing up.
So the coolant has to run back
heater tap open on heat, and make sure engine is warm enough for the thermostat to be open, leave engine running, even rev it up a bit
top up header tank if needed
