    300tdi wont turn off

Hello, my brother in laws car wont turn off. Have traced it down to a problem with the fuel cut out solenoid at the injection pump. Can these be replaced easily.

Easy to replace, BUT I would look very carefully for traces of metallic particles in the well under the solenoid plunger. ANY trace of sparkly bits shows the hardfacing is coming off the cam plate, and this alone will / can hold the plunger up off its seat slightly, causing the symptom of no shut off. Of course the solenoids DO fail, and the plunger spring can break etc but check carefully for these metallic bits while you have the solenoid out.
The pump will require an overhaul should metallic bits be visible.

Hi has anybody taken one of these soleniods out. I am having touble getting a spanner to fit. Do i need to take any other parts of the injector pump off to gain better access. If i take the rear bracket off it means undoing 4 torx screws on back of pump that appears to hold back secton of pump to main body,i was worried about upsetting seals between sections.
    cheers Ecka
