    D1 Manual Gear Knobs .

    Anyone here ever replaced the gear knobs of their D1's ? will any sort screw straight on or did land rover put an odd thread on the sticks just to give me the ****s ?

    I replaced the gear knob in my RRC. The aftermarket one I used has an insert up the guts to keep it steady on the shifter shaft and three grub screws at the base of the knob to lock it in place.

    I think that ia a pretty common way of locating and retaining aftermarket knobs.

    Whatever floats your boat .

    I got a grey leather covered one with a nicer shape than the round LT77 original. The only downside is it doesn't have the shift pattern on it. People unfamiliar with the gearbox tend to get in and drive backwards .

    Shift pattern is still wrong for an LT77s...

    I have heard that those knobs get very hot in the sun.

    Well order one for an LT77... its not rocket science. And yeah I imagine that they would get pretty damn hot in the sun.. But still... look cool
