make my disco sound like an 8! ?

Is there a cheap way to get the v8 motor to actually have abit of a growl to it, without forking out big dollars for a full exhaust + extractors..??

has anyone just had the rear muffler removed for some more noise??

    any tips would be great

i had a straight through muffler put in, and had the rear resonator removed, sounded real good but droned a bit on the freeway and ****ed my neighbours off, so i had a resonator put back on, still sounds ok, but not the same

    Hey mate

If anything, take centre off or put straight through in its place.

Its not a performance car though and remember, it will sound like its labouring a bit or even boat like because the little motor is working very hard.
That is even more pronounced with an Auto and on long distances can be uite annoying.
thats from personnel experience, and extractors do very little, in fact sometimes hinder the performance.
A good say Mandrel bend stainless system can help and with good mufflers is worth a closer look but a performance gain you will really notice its not.

I have one of these in 50 series, in a 1 in centre 1 out staggered

Mufflers - Flowmaster, Inc. Performance street mufflers, exhaust sounds
The muffler gives a "mouse " sound mainly at lower revs and has NO drone.

On my RRC 3.9 it was too loud for SWMBO with a hotdog resonator , so I added a dogleg straight through resonator with a centre chamber and the sound is great.

The sound with the lightly baffled muffler has much more of a v8 beat than any straight through muffler I have heard.
    Regards Philip A

I'm still trying to find the right tone out the back of mine. I have extractors with a 2 1/4 pipe. I tried cuting the rear muffler off and it made it louder inside but still not very V8 like out the back. I think something needs to be done to the large center muffler to make it sound better. I want the sound without making it to loud inside. What other set ups are out there as I've heard some with nice tones.

    Cheers, David.

The best one ( i think anyways ) is to remove the centre muffler and leave the rear muffler on . Will give you the V8 rumble but not blow your ear drums out .
