took the fuel pump and sender assembly out today to have a look, didn't really find too much crud, so i got my trusty brake clean on the job, sprayed all the inlet and outlets possible, i cleaned the guaze and put back in.
On the test drive she was 100% better for 40 min or so which was a massive improvement on previous days, after that i started to get a slight miss under heavy throttle, noway near as bad as before, so i think in the end it maybe that the pump is on the way out?

Can you pull these apart, or should i just throw a new one in.

The pump itself is virtually the same as a VR Commodore, on my 92 RRC anyway and I am pretty sure on your Disco.

You have to crimp a terminal and get the fuel line off and on but that is about it.
I assume you are talking of the pump itself when you talk of disassembly and not the whole pump/fuel gauge assembly. The pump itself is not servicable but cheap. I bought a new Bosch pump at repco for $105 and cheapy Chinese are on Ebay for $40 or so. I assume you have already pulled the assembly apart so you know it is a fiddley job but achievable.FYI you just pull the gauge arm GENTLY out of its sockets.

Well after all my tinkering around with my disco, i finally went to order a fuel pump to sort it out, but i now dont seem to have to buy one as i drove over 200k today for work and there was not one sign of a cough of miss, all i did to the fuel sender and pump unit was clean it with brake clean, it seem as that a bit of **** had got into the pump and over time made it restrict in some way.

I will monitor it for the next few days, but it seems to be looking good, i think i will rename her HERBIE, it seems to have a mind of its own.
