    starter problems

    Hi all ,,need some help with my Disco 93 V8 ,,starter motor spins over but wont engague,,,,I might have to hit starter 20 or 30 times before it throws in ,,,then all day it starts first time I try ,,,I can leave it for 3 to 4 hours but still starts first time ,,,it is only the first start when engine is dead cold I have this problem ,,,hope some one has an answer for me ...many thanks

    the throw out is sticking or the sprag clutch is slipping

    either way correct rectification requires removal of the the startermotor.

    Had the same problem, was the sprag clutch as Dave said, can buy the part from your local Auto Electrician, not hard to fit, Regards Frank

    If the solenoid was not working the motor (starter) would not spin, Regards Frank.
