Thread: New Idea for a Sticky (Discovery Bible)

Hi, I don't know if its been talked about before but I think it would be a good idea if we had something like they do on other forums, a Discovery bible where you can find all the basic information about a particular make and model, like standard ride height, track width, brake diameters, etc.
Then some of the most common problems and fixes associated with the engine, diffs, gearbox, transfer case, etc.
I know the search feature is there, but it can be quite overwhelming when you type in ride height to find 100's of posts, but none with the standard ride height. It would make it really easy for newcomers and long-time forum members who haven't had a particular problem until now. Anyway maybe one of the mods can let us know if it can be done.

Hi thanks for that but the ride hight its not on mine, must have come off.
If its done right its a great resource, the Patrol and Cruiser forums have one and it works well. Each section ie. engine has a few of the most common faults and remedies and then continues on through the driveline, and at the beginning it has all the factory information (weights, towing capacity etc). I know its available in the owners books and stuff but a lot of the old Disco's don't come with the vehicle anymore. I know its in the workshop manual but they cost a couple hundred bucks, or you can buy a copy on cd, but it is a lot easier to use the forum for such basic things. I must admit I haven't the read the projects and tutorials and the good oil, I guess its time I explored the site a little better.
