    97 tdi disco auto change to manual possible and what major problems are there ?

    97 tdi auto swap to a manual.is it possible and what major problems are there

    The main hurdle is finding a LT77/R380 for it. The diesel Disco has a different flywheel, bellhousing and gearbox input shaft than the v8 version. Clutch pedal/master is bolt in, but the pipe is different. Everything else is either bolt in or the same.

    Isn't there something to do with EDC as well on changing an auto to manual, possibly a TDC sensor on the ring gear. Thats also assuming its an EDC auto.

    Hey Adrian, We in Oz never got the EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) version of the 300Tdi, ours' are all mechanically controlled.

    However I believe there are a couple floating around that were personal imports, from Japan maybe.

    You also need the adaptor housing between the engine block & bellhousing. The auto one is different from the manual.
