WHERE HAS MY FRONT STABILISER BAR GONE

Can anyone please tell me if all disco 1s had front stabilisers bars fitted or has someone stolen mine. I jacked up my disco to do rwc check and to find out why it drives like a boat only to find it is missing front stabiliser bar .

    What year is your Disco?

Pre 1995MY Discos did not have sway bars.

I believe you have a 93, if so probably no sway bars.

I think they became standard in the update of 94.
So if you have the non-update dash amongst other things, then probably no bars.

In that case, the handling sounds pretty normal.

A decent set of dampers will help considerably without compromising offroadability.

I thought the early D1s (3.5s and 200TDi) had no stabiliser bars and it was with the interim D1s (pre updates with 3.9 engine) that rear stabilisers were introduced but no fronts.

Thankyou all for the quik answers. It shows how much i know about my disco and yes it is a 5/93 model . I thought after i looked under the vehicle it was strange not to see a stabiliser bar when all the mounts are there to fit it. It has one fitted to the rear and i would say it would have to make it corner better with the front one fitted.....At the moment it feels like its going to roll over on a roundabout at 20kph

If yours is a 5/93 build and it has a rear roll bar then I suspect a previous owner has had it fitted as they were not fitted as standard until a few months later than yours.

Zip down to the wreckers and pick one up for the front then.

Easy job to fit with a couple of spanners or socket.
