diff pinion seal
I have to replace the rear seal on my D1, can anyone tell me the size of the nut that is on the pinion? also is it a straight forward in and out with the seal or do I have to set up the clearance again, is there a torque setting for the pinion?
Thanks, Jack

What sort of diff is it
- if it's a uni joint rear, then mark position of nut with liquid paper, count number of turns to take off, fit seal ( As you would say, straight forward ), and do nut back up to same position. No changes to clearances. Should be the same as the wheel nuts for socket. You will need something to stop the diff spinning during re-tightening ( either a bar bolted to the flange or rest vehicle up against a kerb )
- If it's a rotoflex,(donut) then that presents a problem because there is a spigot to be removed. Search 'uni joint conversion' and there are some threads on how to get the spigot out. (Thence is a straightforward seal replacement)
