    Engine Hot, Temp Gauge Cool...

I noticed the last couple of times I've taken my 97 D1 V8i out that my temperature gauge is reading slightly lower I am used to seeing it. Also, when I get out of the car after a bit of a drive the engine seems a little hotter than I remember it typically being.

The coolant levels seems okay and viscous coupler was replaced not long ago.

Is something beginning to go wrong or am I just paranoid?

    Thanks in advance!

Could be your thermostat failing slowly, they often open earlier when they get old. What you feel as a hotter engine might be more hot air coming from the radiator while the thermostat is open. Thermostats are relatively cheap...

I recently had a hot engine, the temp gauge was normal, but you really could feel the heat in the engine bay and off the radiator, (I have a premanent scar where my arm touched the top of the "cooler side" of the Rad for a split second and it peeled my skin off.)
My radiator was rodded and that fixed the problem, the top passenger side quarter of the radiator had a hot spot

You take the radiator to your local radiator specialist and they remove the tanks off it and physically push all the crud out of the tubes (ie push a rod down them ), then put it back together.

Should cost around $100 if you remove it yourself and take to them.
