    Suspected water pump issues

    Well not so happy g'day

Just got home from dropping off the missus at work and while waiting for the turbo timer to cut the engine off i can hear a knocking sounds coming from the engine bayof my d1 300tdi.

Started her up again and still can hear it. Got myself a screw driver and put her on the water pump and can hear the same knocking noise coming from within. just changed it 6 months ago and now thinking might have to do it again GREAT TIMING!!!!!!!!!! with the gathering this sat!!!!

Anybody know of this knocking in pump issue????? if so as the p gasket has to be changed would i have to do that as well??

Just to add : just took off the belt and found movement in the pully which is attached to the pump, have heared there should not be any at all???

thats not good simon...perhaps it still has warranty.

However I would be inclined when you get the new one to makesure everything is running true and its not something else that has warn that water pump pully prematurely
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Yeah not good at all. Have already one coming on the way or it will be here on thursday cause have to change it ASAP before this gathering other wise it will be the second time in a row that i couldnt take my rig.

It just happened today from what i gathered. all the temps seem normal and nothing out of the ordinary looks suspect. 99% sure its the pump as i have heared thses after market ones do not last that long....would have thought a bit more than 7 months though lol
