Thread: Who best to insure my new Disco with?

I just went through RACV (who I've got my bike n Jeep covered with also). I'm 28yo and rating 1 for life with no scars on my record for a very long time. For a '96 Disco diesel, full comprehensive, windscreen replacement and with an agreed value of $7480, paying by the month costs me $65 p/m. Pretty good value considering the peace of mind...

Remember that where you live will affect the price for insurance. Despite living and working in Melbourne at the time, I always "kept" the BMW (my last car) at mums place in Ballarat cos it was $200+ cheaper for insurance and nearly $50 cheaper to register.

Australian 4WD insurance. They cover your car on and offroad anywhere in Australia. They're good to deal with too

Suncorp advertise a "rating 1 for life" well it is B/S not worth the paper it is written on, for example there can be 10 people owning identical vechicles all on "rating 1" living in the same street, yet they are all paying different premiums, the ones that have had previuos claims pay more.
Aami are also part of suncorp.

They were good until this year :-(

I have been insured with them for 12 years and was paying $239 for low milage policy with CGU underwriting them. This year they changed to Allianz insurance and my policy went up to $543.. OUCH!!

I have spent the day doing online quotes and CGU still have the best price of $344, Budget direct $384, Suncorp $386 and Racv $436, all the others were higher or the company wanted all your personal details, some even NEEDED your mobile number before you could continue.

So I will be giving CGU a ring tomorrow because all my mods are not included on the web site.

Just covered my 1999 D2 for 13K for about $500 depends on your address but over 25 without a claim you should do OK with them. You can add on your accessories. Give them a buzz.

Online quote from Shannons comes in at $446, $100 more than CGU.

I have a Merc insured through Mercedes Benz which is underwritten by Allianz. Its at the panel beaters at the moment and the claim process was very good. Rang up and gave the details over the phone, got a claim number, took to repairer. No probs and I haven't seen one bit of paperwork.

Couldn't want for anything more.

PS. they gave me a Calais to drive while mine is being repaired but I still prefer to drive my old disco.
