Thread: Discovery 1 Warning: Please check you brake line for this contact point

This post is related to a 97 Discovery with ABS. It may apply to all Discovery 1 and early Range Rovers.
Recently I noticed a strange rust stain on a section of the chassis cross member just behing the passenger front wheel arch. It turned out to be the brake line union joint rubbing on the edge of the cross member.
This line runs to the passenger side rear brake and was not far from rubbing through and creating a brake fluid leak. I have just replaced this union (Part no. BMK2466 - Brake Pipe Nut Female), bled the brakes and moved the line away from the cross member to give it some clearance, so it shouldn't be a problem in the future.
Please take a couple of minutes to check your brake line here.
