start worrying when they stop leaking.
that's when you have a problem. right now they are just telling you that you have liquid in there.
Okay here are some pics of my Disco's wet spots, the one from the small pipe (one of two shown...one dry one soaked with fluid) is the worse one and drips a fair bit sometimes. The other looks like it's coming down the front diff and the other pic is just a bunch of wet stuff I saw and took a picture of.
Tell me straight guys, is this thing roadworthy or should I take it back to the mechanic who gave the roadworthy to the guy I bought it off and throw the book at him?

looks like an auto oil cooler line is weeping at the compression fitting, a power steering leak as well as a potential engine oil leak from either the front of the rocker cover on the drivers side or a leak from the oil pump/filter housing assembly or the timing case.
A thourough clean up and dusting off with talc is in order to exactly locate the leaking parts.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Those leaks look quite old and would have been on the disco when you bought it. Did you not look underneath before? Or did you just buy it on line sight unseen?. But they are easily fixed with some new hoses.
As Blknight says give it a good clean to ID where they are coming from and replace as needed. They are common for a Disco of that age.
YAngus as you have hit 50 posts in a fortnight over this buy so that means you have to (AULRO rule 3.12c(iv)) reveal how much you payed for this D1 beastie if you are looking to secure advice about your purchase concerns...for instance "or should I....throw the book at him (the seller)"
Relax, new Landies have more leaks than yours.
Scott
I forgot about that rule, I'm glad you pointed that one out to all of us that are sleeping on the job.
But you forgot to mention (AULRO rule 3.12.33.-9) that all landies must be inspected before purchase, this protects sellers from having book thrown at them.(Caveous emptor)![]()
