Hi Blokes. Wondering if anyone has had experience of loss of steering wheel controls. The power steering button on dash illuminates when pressed however no operation from steering wheel paddles. Also the stereo has no control from paddles. I remember reading somewhere about chaffing of a wire in steering colomn on some disco's causing this sort of problem. Nothing obvious however further investigation required.![]()
If my translation of your problem is correct then the fault could possibly be the "clock spring" behind the steering wheel.
forget about the paddles,,
worry about the coolant leak!!!![]()

The "clock spring" (there is a correct term for it but I can't recall it right now) is a coil of wires inside a circular plastic cover.
It is designed so the you can have wiring connected to the steering wheel that moves and the steering column housing which doesn't.
It is possible that the wires inside have broken, causing faults.
Replacement is pretty straightforward provided you don't set the airbag off when removing and refitting the steering wheel...
As Pedro says, fix the water leak first!!
