    Front Prop shaft -help !

So, after packing the car ready for a quick get away in the morning for a weekends camping my wife tells me of a strange clicking noise on the way home today....
Sure enough the double Cardan joints on the front prop shaft are lose and wobbly - its toast

Whilst I always thought I would one day rebuild the joints as a preventative measure it looks like time has run out.

My question is, does anyone in the Sydney area have a spare front prop in reasonable condition they would like to sell - - tonight ???

edit>> should say that it is a TD5 2002 disco.

    thanks all.

This may help someone too, and sorry for the hijack,

A D1/ Defender front shaft and drive flange is a direct fit, and unless your D2 is lifted a fair amount then there are no vibe issues at all with any of the ones I have done. Shaft is roughly half the price and at least it is greasable. Front output flanges are available new for about $120 to $150 or so(Depends on where you source it from) for a full kit, includes seal and locknut etc.

A few people have asked about this!

JC did all of your conversions still have the rotoflex in the rear - I think that these also soak up a lot of the torsional vibrations.
    Cheers

Yes Simon, all are left as original everywhere else.
All of them except for the first one which was an experiment, were done for economic reasons

My son had the misfortune to experience a broken DC joint a few months ago, however there is often some good that comes out of such situations.
His shaft decided to end its useful life in a small northern tablelands country town so he was only travelling at about 50km/hr at the time so no other damage. It also happened right outside the residence of a friendly diesel mechanic and fitter and turner who builds driveshafts for farm implements and therefore has a well equipped workshop.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, this guy abandoned the wedding reception that he was on his way to and spent the next five hours repairing the broken propshaft by making a single UJ out of the broken DC joint and then lengthening the shaft to compensate for absence of half of the DC joint ............. and refused to accept any payment for his work.
My son drove around on this shaft for about a month without a problem while awaiting a replacement DC (greasable) shaft.

Replacement (greasable) DC Shaft (top) and Temporary rebuilt shaft (bottom)

    Broken section of DC joint.
