2 Years no worries, TD5 D2 spoke too soon........

Well had my TD5 D2 2 years no problems till now everything at once, firstly the xyz (gearbox) switch is sometimes on then not then on again, then I get the 3 lights on the dash sometimes with the hand brake then with the other light. sometimes when I start sometimes when I go over a bump then nothing for a week or so. Lastly a oil leak which is under the turbo behind the engine mount it seems, I just replaced the oil filter and rotor one of the bolt holes was stripped so repaired it but still oil engine oil.
looked at the gearbox switch which is the better way to get at it the plan would be clean, seal and replace it, as I see the aircon drips on it all the time.

Any help would be great or anyone in Perth with a Nano thinging would be good to see if not a abs fault first.
    Thanks
    Ian

That gearbox switch--replace it[I've been there]then use some fuel lineand reroute the aircon drain away from the switch I tied mine with cable ties to the auto oil lines, that oil leak -check the plastic cam cutout sections[front and rear] they loosen, leak and the oil gets blown all over place.

The centrifigal filter housing bolts can usually be repaired by getting longer bolts in the same size and the thread will go right thru to the bottom. The original bolts only go about half way down the housing which the thread strips out easily.
The oil is very possibly coming from the oil filter and running down the block..The old o-ring sometimes gets left behind and the new 1 wont seal..or the filter isnt tight enough.
You can see the filter from underneath and see if it is the filter itself, you need to clean the area then get a torch and shine it up from between the block and the engine mount, you will need someone to start the car as it gets hard to see once it starts to travel..

Mine had the oil gasket that holds the filter housing to the block let go , but apparently thats not common, and you need to remove the turbo to replace that.

I believe the xyz senser is common, but I have a manual so not sure, and the air-con drain should be re-run to stop it dripping onto the uni joints, a bit of black irrigation from bunnings works well..

    Cheers Ean

    Thanks Ean,
Well de-oiled the engine yesterday and got a look underneath and it is the gasket from the oil housing to the block. Also a few bolts were lose on the tranny pipes, and when I cleaned the air filter the oval pipe from the snorkel came off, well fell off on closer inspection I found that the foam seal between the airbox and front wing was a gap of about 15mm all the foam was gone so I fixed that as well something to look out for. To late when doing a water crossing. I am getting the gaskets on Tuesday for the housing. Thanks angain.
