My D2 rear bar and other modifications

I have finally gotten around to having a steel rear bar made up...along with a few other mods..aluminium expansion tank, new exhaust, ceramic coating the manifold and turbo. Here are some pics so far...

Bar build up...tubing is roll cage tube. LED lights will be recess mounted.

The idea is to have a removable outer steel skin to keep the regulators happy...but can be taken off for off road so the tube acts more as a slider..

Cutouts for LEDs yet to be done, then off to get powder coated. Black chequer plate will go on top.

Manifold and turbo off for ceramic coating..this will hopefully reduce under bonnet temperatures.

Should have some pics of the exhaust and aluminium expansion tank in the next couple of days.

Awesome Mick , The LED lights look good on the rear Bar, look forward to seeing it in flesh.

Rear bar's looking good Mick, plenty strong.

Interested in the part about the removable outer skin being there to keep the regulators happy.....aesthetics aside, is that a legal requirement there?....just curious.

No mate, just gives me a couple of options. Looks just like an average bar with the skin on...but stronger than all get out. Then skin off to go and play.

Are you making this up yourself? this will be the first d2 tube rear bar i have seen, you should knock up a matching front bar

Thanks Mick...The tube was used because we wanted something a little different to what everybody was doing. Would love to lay claim for the work but no...If only I had their welding skills mate...

The outer skin was hand cut, but if we do another, he will use a plasma cutter.

Wouldn't be much involved in the front bar.

They are doing 10 of the expansion tanks so not sure if anyone is interested.

Yeah so anyway, the Swiss have an interesting army. Five hundred years without a war. Pretty impressive. Also pretty lucky for them. Ever see that little Swiss Army knife they have to fight with? Not much of a weapon there. Corkscrews. Bottle openers. ‘Come on, buddy, let’s go. You get past me, the guy in back of me, he’s got a spoon. Back off. I’ve got the toe clippers right here.’

You know I have the body of an eighteen year old? I keep it in the fridge.

I’ve had a wonderful evening – but this wasn’t it. Thank you and goodnight

Good looking bar Mick. Are you going to releive the webbing on the manifold before you get it powdercoated? I only ask as this is why they snap the manifold studs off. Would hate for you to have to cut into the nice shiny ceramic coating.
