    Mystery object!

This has been bothering me for ages.
What is this thing and what is it supposed to do?
Is there something missing off the end?
    BTW, it's a 2002 D2V8.
    Cheers

Looks to me like some sort of fuel line??? In the td5 models the two fuel lines pop out around that area which go into the fuel cooler.

It's one of the EVAP connections for V8's fitted with secondary air injection systems for the "emission" fussy people like California etc, generally a NAS spec item.

    Thanks UP,
I was wondering whether I should block it off. It looks like something should be screwed in the end - an air filter or something I suppose.
