Those wires are the aerial for the radio.
I think they switched from a normal aerial on the front quarter panel to the rear window wires in 1998 on the last of the D1s.
Hello All
Hopefully this isn't a dumb question.
My 2004 D2a has 3 vertical heater "wires" in the drivers side rear fixed load space window (the one directly below the roof hi-light window). They don't seem to work and the owners handbook doesn't mention them. Curious to know what the story is. Are they for another market. Left hand drive would put it on the passenger side. My vehicle has 3rd row of seats.Clue?
Why would you want to heat (demist/ de ice) just that particular window on one side? Maybe some of our cold climate overseas members have an answer.
Cheers

Thanks nice1guv. Had a feeling it was going to be a dumb Q but just had to ask. Presumably if you break that window you have to give $'s to LandRover as it won't be anything aftermarket glass replacement services would have.
Cheers

Thats probably when you'd be going back to a roof or wing mounted aerial....

Now there you go. I wondered why my disco didn't have a ariel for the wireless and worked so well. I asked next door who is a panelbeater
and he said the same. I thought yeh ok pull the other one. You learn something every day........
