Yes, do both at the same time. $350 is way overpriced. They should be from $100-200ea depending on what quality you want.
Hi,
My 04 td5 Disco 2 needs a new front lh shockie. A repairer quoted me around $350 for the part (just one).God knows how much to put it in.
This sounds a little steep to me. Anyone suggest a supplier (I'm in SA rural.) Also, would it be advisable to replace both at once?

Vehicle 2004 TD5 Disco Stock Standard 90K. Being used for towing 2500 kg Caravan and minor off road work. Only had vehicle for two months, it replaced my 2000 3.5 Ltr Petrol NM Pajero. The Disco is far superior in it towing ability and touring except for its body roll, unladen on the open road. I want to replace shocks at this time.
Questons: Any body out there been thru this process?
What shocks for the job?
On my 80k Disco 2a the body was rolling about and hitting the bump stops too frequently.
Have just replaced the springs (King Springs Std height) and that stopped the car hitting the bump stops and then the next weekend replaced all the dampers with Bilsteins which has helped with the body roll.
But having purchased a brand new Disco 2a in a previous life, they all tend to roll, so even with new kit it will still roll about, but feels substancially more planted on the road than with worn out springs & shockers.
Have spring compressors, trolley jack & axle stands and an 18mm socket/spanner and it's relatively straight forward job.
US$90 plus postage from the US or 67 pounds plus postage from the UK for Bilstein shocks. About $250 each in AUS!!! There are plently of cheaper ones on the market
MR Automotive suggested 2.5hrs to replace the front pair of shocks.
Replaced my front ones at the weekend - an hour for the passenger side and 40mins for the driver's side..... though that didn't include for cleaning the inside of the alloy wheels - well they were off and who knows who might be looking?!?!?!?
Just need a trolley jack, 18mm socket and 18mm spanner plus the usual stuff. I mention the 18mm stuff as neither of my socket sets had one!
those billies sound tempting,,,,![]()

Disco not hitting the bump stops, feels like the shocks are only working on compression. Thanks for the info.
2004 D2a, I'm running King Springs with the OME Sports shocks; cannot fault them.... BTW from memory the OME's are $167 a corner.
I had Pro Comp shocks on my D1, does any one know if Procomps eye to eye shocks for front and rear will fit my D2? or are the eyes too small ?
