Will Coolant Pump make a noise when knackered?
HI,
Just wondering if when the Coolant pump is on the way out would it give off any sort of noises when driviing.
I have had like a roaring, grumbling noise when starting off, ( since we bought it) but now its getting louder and not going away at high speeds.
Its a 2001 Discovery TD5.
Someone suggested it could be the water pump.
Was going to take it across to Landrover at Toowoomba today but they are shut for a Show holiday
cheers

More likely the Idler pulley.
Relatively cheap to replace, cheaper to repair if your game!
Bearing is $6.00 from a bearing place, you need to drill the welds and bolt back together after.

HI,
WEll I have had the Disco over at Landrover since Friday, had a phone call this morning saying they had checked out everything they could and couldnt find anything that would cause a noise. Numerous mechanics had driven it saying any noises they could hear was normal for a vehicle its age and Kms driven
So told them to do a Auto Transmission service as its nearly due anyway.
Then this afternoon head mechanic or someone rings said he took it for a drive and felt or heard the vibration so upon further investigation decided the Engine mounts are soft/knackered. ( whats inside an engine mount?)
Would this cause a vibration rumble when changing through the gears ( not harsh accelerating)
These are getting changed anyway.
Makes you wonder what the point of there other mechanics are?
Cheers
