    Tyres tyres tyres....!!

My 245/75 16 MTRs are nearly worn out and I'm looking for new boots. Loved them but for the last 20% they have been hell on bitumen (noisy and rough). Have got nearly 80 K out of them. Don't like the new MTRs as they are symetrical and I hate OWL so am looking around.

I have BFG KM2s, General Grabber AT2s or Maxxis Bighorns on the short list. I'm looking to keep the same size as I don't have a lift. I'm not too proud to admit that 'looks' are a part of the deal but realistic enough as well. I live in NE Vic so the Grabbers will be good in the snow and they wont be noisy either. I have the OEM alloys as spares but wonder how often I'd be bothered to change them over?

    Anyway....over to you all.

    cheers

Mate KM2's all the way. They are as quiet as an A/T but have the grip of a traditional Muddie. Pricey but worth it in my opinion.

I'm also a great fan of my old style MTR's.

The new ones are not symetrical though, they are asymetrical. I think the BFG MT KM2 is a vry nice looking tyre, but I'll probably head back to the MTR. The best looking tyre is the one that drives it and doesn't get punctures. The old MTR has now been matched by the BFG, Cooper STT, but the new MTR has stepped it up again for an unrivalled carcass.
    Cheers

Thanks Slunnie yep I meant asymetrical. I am tempted for the KM2s but wary about noise and ride again as they wear.

The local bloke up here reckons they are quieter than the previous BFG mud but are they really that quiet?

    cheers

BFG KM2's are great. If you want a tyre thats quiet, buy a road tyre. What are you really looking for ?
