    Hi,

If it's the Eurovox cassette / radio / CD stacker OEM unit (was in my 2001 D2) - then you can do it with some home made tools.

Cut two length of rigid wire (coathanger in my case) bend them around in half so that both ends will insert into the 2 holes on the sides of the unit (both L and R so u need 2 tools). the idea being that pushing the rods into the holes will release a latch inside each hole.

Mine are about 2 inches long and shaped like a U with long sides. You kind push / jiggle them around while pulling the unit forward (easy to grab at the tape player bit). once they are released it will slide out.

I can take a pic if you need. If it's one of the other head units (there were a few options) it's probably different.

    Cheers

    Wil

You can use four long nails to do the same job.

IIRC you can lever the radio gently forward via the vent on top of the dash as well, if it is a bit hard to get out.

Thanks guys. I am not sure the brand of the headunit. But I am sure it is the OEM. Mine is 2000 model.

Wil, if you can post some pictures (including your homemade tool) would be great.

See link in recent thread for pictures of removal of head unit using a clever tool IMHO.

I used coathanger wire straightened and using a bench grinder, ground a ball on the end of the wire so that it would engauge with the clips to release the head unit. I fitted a JVC KD-AVX33 head unit with a trick 3.5" screen. It plays CD's DVD's, DVDR's, has 5.1 surround. I fitted a reverse camera and it activates as soon as I put it in reverse. Best of all, it has a USB port so I can download a huge amount of music on a 16GB flash drive. I love it!!! Fitted it all myself so i'm stoked!!! I plan to uprade my speakers next. If anyone wants a stock '04 discovery radio/cd player let me know. Regards Robbo.

Managed to get it out thanks to grumpybastard instruction. Now, have to decide whether I follow his idea or get the interface from grom.
