Could be that both bags are leaking, in my case only one side went down and not always. Took a while to track it down, it was in the fold in the bag and only sometimes. I went the Arnotts bags, $450 for the pair delivered to my door. Apparently the german bags are better than the dunlop, it will be interesting to see how long the Arnotts last. I have only had them in for two months so too early to tell.

I found that even though Arnotts use Contitech rubber (same as OEM) it was actually a different type to the originals. The rubber on one side had badly ballooned out to nearly touch my brake line extensions. (Have SLS blocks in) I had to change the bolt to a round one as it started to rub against the bolt. Very inconsistent rubber i guess. These last ones had lasted me 8-9 months or so then when i went on the Vic 4WD course where there was some articulation & this is when it started to come away from the ring. The ballooning happened just after they were installed. BE CAREFUL WITH THESE BAGS!!
You can see the before & after pic with the new bag from Rovacraft.

Thanks guys for your advice and input. I've been away from the PC all week-end but yesterday had a great trip out in the Disco to the Brindabella Ranges with a friend in his Land Cruiser 100. The Disco performed brilliantly and was very compliant even on worn street tyres. I tried out the HDC and decided I preferred my own judgement and first gear Low ratio for a smoother ride down! However after about 6 hours off road we were about 400m from the bitumen with my wife driving, (I was in the Cruiser at this point) when she stopped after she heard a bang going over a bump. It was the suspension back on bumpstops. On Sunday it was sat on a level surface on the driveway and had been theer for several hours when a loud hissing could be heard that lasted about 15 secs until all the air was out of the rear and it was back on both bumpstops. I turned the engine on and it came back up fairly quickly. However, when the same happened yesterday on the Brindies, it made no difference. I turned off the ignition, waited for about 10 minutes then tried again. Still on bumpstops. I tried pressing the raised height button. It then flashed continuously. I then made the decision to drive home slowly as it was starting to get dark and a tow truck was not an option!

I got back home then left it outside my friendly mechanics workshop door and rang him. When he arrived an hour or so later, he started the engine and the rear raised as normal!! He placed it inside on the ramps and they were still up this morning! Not happy! So my question is this; Is there a central control pressure release valve or compressor valve that could be causing the central failure of the SLS? Could something have overheated? He has soap tested the bags and they do not appear to have any leaks. What do you guys think? I obviously don't want to replace airbags if they are not faulty.
All help appreciated. Oh. And regarding sale, the Disco was purchased from Audi Centre Central Coast in West Gosford, so I will be chasing them up regarding warranty once I have fixed it up.
    Thanks in advance guys

    Karl
PS. Did I mention how well it did yesterday besides the SLS failure at the end?

My bet is still the bags. Took me ages to find the leaks the 1st time. Even when you spray soapy water, leave it for a few mins jump in the back & move around. Sometimes it's only after awhile you see the bubbles come through. Mine would stay up for days sometimes. Park on a different angle & psssssst, down in minutes. I was cleaning the back windows once & I could hear the air coming out. Makes no sence sometimes how this happens. You should find it on the fold of the rubber.

Also, it depends on how hard/long the compressor was running before your wife noticed the car running on the stops. This may have overheated it & this is why, MAYBE??, it didn't raise. Just a theory! It's a good idea to take the fuse out so the compressor won't work that way there is no risk of it burning out.

It is fairly simple to pull the bags out, once out they will be easy to check for fine cracks and easier to soap up and with a little air you should prove if they leak or not.
