Thread: FPR LEAKING cost of replacement and fitting

Hi mate,
I cant really remember the cost i from memory around 250-300 for a new one.
Its not hard to change just a PITA due to access. Allow at least a few hours for fitment assuming things go smoothly.
I have been told that letting it go can end up causing damage to the fuel pump so i did it asap.
As for the missus, i'll let u sort that on out. haha

thanks fella's the tutorial was very informative, i was also reading in another thread that it is possible to service and fix the FPR without replacing it by putting new rubber o rings in it has anyone heard of this before?

Sometimes you can fix them, but in most cases you have to chuck them as the rubber diaphragm wears out and that cannot be replaced as it is a sealed unit. If you leave it like this, you will go through a lot of fuel and its not particularly good for the started motor to be soaked in fuel. Mine has been through 2 FPR's genuine from LR was about 450, while genuine ex UK was about 290.
Its not the hardest thing to replace on the td5, but it is pretty fiddly, so as mentioned allow a few hours.

Yes! mine went at 150.000K around $400 for gen LR. part.
very fiddly to get to,allow a couple of hours to fit.
Not good to leave due to above reasons.

As read in another thread here, since it's much easier to do the FPR if the inlet manifold is removed ... it's the perfect time to clean your inlet manifold

I've just had mine replaced (Disco II TD5 Auto 120k service), it was $400 plus $100 labour.
