Hi all,
I have been emailed a copy of the Nanocom graphic veiwer but when trying to open the program windows 7 says the following.
Windows found that this program is potentially harmful.
To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file.
Does anyone know how a way around this?
Steve
thanks msteen, i tried that but still no luck.
Steve,
Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Defender
Select TOOLS at the top of the window
This opens TOOLS & SETTINGS
Select OPTIONS
Then select EXCLUDED FILES AND FOLDERS
You then get an option to ADD (right hand side)....then select the files and folders you wish Win7 to ignore.
Hope that helps....

You might have another anti-virus program playing part in the blocks, if so try adding the file your trying to open to the ignore list on them aswell. But the previous post should work if you only havge windows firewall active. If not do the same procedure as the previous post and replicate on your anti-virus program.
Personally I never use Windows firewall as I find it creates more problems than it prevents, I just use a program such as MCAFEE or Norton Anti-Virus and disable firewall.
The message:
"Windows found that this program is potentially harmful.
To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file."
Is definitely a Windows 7 alert, so it won't be being sent by an anti-virus program, 3rd party or otherwise. Win7 ships with Norton as standard, and if it was a Norton issue, the error/box would tell you so.
If it was firewall related, the message would say something like "Windows firewall blocked blah, blah..."
Pretty sure the OP's message comes from the new Windows 7 "Windows Defender" program. Hey, its got "Defender" in the name - it's got to be a bit buggy!!
But, I could be wrong!

Hey Steve ! ...I think Kierens on the right track. I had similar issues with Vista but somehow it sorted it'self (or I did without realising I had done ... something!?)
There's a Defender stopping you looking at your Discovery files !
