    Hi
how do you know what width the mags are on a discovery 2 , am looking at putting some at tyres on and not sure to go with 235/70/16 or 255/65/16 would prefer the later but believe they have to be on 8" rims , cant find the size marking on the old wheels , was thinking of yokahame geolanders at, any comments would be appreciated

Generally, most D2's came with 235/70's on 16X7" rims. Higher spec models had 255's on 8" rims but these were usually 18" tyres. It's only the last of the D2's (2003/2004) that had 255's on 16x8" rims.

My first D2 had 16x7" rims with 235/70 tyres and in my opinion, my current disco shopd with 255's on 16x8" rims has a better ride.

    Cheers,

    Franz

The rim dimensions are marked into part of the codes which are on the rim. If you post a pic of the rim someone will recognise them and their size.

Re fitting the 255 size to 7" rims, check this on the manufacturers website, it'll probably be fine to fit them.

I think later rims had the dimensions marked on the inside face of the rim (the diff side) not the outside visible face. There'll be a series of letters and numbers. One will be the width, 7 or 8 (inches), another diameter 16 or 18 (inches) and the last number will be the offset which, on a D2, is 57mm.

Mate I don't think you will have any troubles fitting the 255 to a 7 inch rim as I used to run a 245 on the 7 inch and never had any troubles and i currently run 285 on the same rims and have never had issues (at psi's above 15)
